In this article I am going to talk about Why Appreciation Isn’t Working For You and What you can do about it.


Effortlessly living your best life takes a bit of effort…in the beginning.  The reason being is that you are shifting your conditioned thoughts, feelings, emotions and responses to the world.


You are conditioned to take what you have for granted.  You have been taught to work hard and never feel satisfied.  The conditioned belief that you are buying into is that “If I am satisfied I will never get better, receive more, etc etc.


But the truth is you must appreciate what you have or you will never receive more.   Oprah said it best “Be thankful for what you have; you’ll end up having more.  If you concentrate on what you don’t have, you will never, ever have enough.”


Guess what?  If you can’t take lessons about receiving from one of the most powerful self-made Billionaires in the world, then who can you learn from?

But… I appreciate Every Single Day



You may be thinking “But I appreciate Everyday.”   Maybe you do appreciate.  You have this thriving daily gratitude practice.  The journal where you write all of the things you appreciate is full and you are ready to buy the next one.  But I have a question for you.


When you APPRECIATE…are you really FEELING IT?  Think about that.  Stop be quiet and think long and hard about that.


Sure you say, “I am Grateful for xxx” and “Thank you for xxx” or “I appreciate xxx.”  BUT…Are you REALLY Feeling it?


Are you REALLY FEELING it?   Forget the words.  Words are just words.  The Universe speaks in Feelz.  Energetic Vibration is where it is at.  Do you EMBODY the FEELING behind the words?





Why Appreciation Isn’t Working


The reason why gratitude isn’t working for you is that you aren’t truly embodying your thankfulness.  Take a moment and bring yourself to the last time you wrote your appreciation list.


  • Were you just giving lip service?  
  • Saying what is expected of you or what you heard you are supposed to say?  
  • When you write in your gratitude journal is it something that you truly appreciate?


Be honest with yourself.  There is no judgment. It is normal for a daily practice of anything to become more action and less feeling.  The important thing to do is to be AWARE of what is going on.


Being conscious of what is going on is key.  AWARENESS is the most necessary skill when intentionally creating your best life.    


Ask yourself: Is your practice becoming more of a PRACTICE and less  FEELING. More DO and Less WOO.


If so, here is what you can do.





Really Really Feeling Is the Secret



Example 1: Car

If you are grateful for your car, next time you are in your car, sit quietly, close your eyes, feel the wheel, breathe deeply, put a smile on your face, really FEEL GRATEFUL, Look Around and FEEL how HAPPY you AREREALLY FEEL IT



Example 1: Relationship

If you are grateful for your boyfriend, next time you spend time with him softly rub his arm or his face and REALLY FEEL GRATEFUL, Look at him and SMILE, FEEL how HAPPY YOU AREREALLY REALLY FEEL IT.   So today FEEL your GRATITUDE.  Don’t just place lip service and spout what you are “supposed” to say.
